About Us

We don't think an about us page means you have to learn about Grandma like you're on a recipe site, so we'll get the good stuff out of the way quickly, and if you want to learn more, you won't have to scroll too far.

  1. Richards' Pretty Good is all about quality ingredients, maintaining this quality over time (You won't find us substituting the good stuff for the cheap stuff), and making sure our ingredients are as safe and as effective as possible.
  2. You won't find harsh chemicals at Richards' Pretty Good. We keep things naturally derived, and if you like smells, they will only come from essential oils and isolates.
  3. The Richards' in Richards' Pretty Good is our actual family name. We are a small, family run company and believe it's what allows us to be the best. If you reach out, there's a good chance you'll be talking to someone in the family. That means no jumping through hoops if you have a problem or question - no asking to speak to a manager around here.
  4. Our team is what allows us to succeed. We wouldn't be where we are without them, so we treat them like they're a part of the family as well (Only in the good ways though... Who wants to go through an awkward thanksgiving dinner at work?). Since we care about our team, we may have random days where we give the day off so they can enjoy themselves and if that may impact shipping, you may see the occasional banner on the site saying this.

Ingredients are what makes us more than good

It's not enough to make natural products. They still have to work and make you want to come back for more. This is why we make sure to only add what's needed and what we believe should be in a products. In food, this may be obvious, but when it comes to common cleaners and soap around the house it gets a bit harder. That's where we come in. Chemical names may sound scary, but we wouldn't touch them if they actually were. We even made this handy page below so you could learn more!

What's with The Name Though?

We know it may seem silly, but in our family, there's a big difference between good and pretty good. We think that there's been a lot of good stuff put out there in the soap, laundry, and cleaner world, but not all of them have kept up on their end through the years. You know what we're talking about and probably have heard it for generations: "They don't make it like they used to". It's pretty obvious how true this can be in todays age of cheap appliances (Don't get our team started on what's been going on with our lunchroom refrigerator - Sore subject for all of us involved... RIP Little Refrigerator That Could). The same thing has happened in household goods too. Just do a quick image search for the labels of some of the big brands that have been around for years and you'll quickly find that the ingredients are not the same as they used to be (We thought the same thing just now... Were my parents right all along?). Palm oil went from nowhere to everywhere. Synthetic ingredients replaced the naturally-derived ones, and don't get us started on the artificial fragrances. Then there's the filler ingredients and shrinking of packaging that they hope you didn't notice, and slowly but surely, the product that made them who they were is no longer recognizable. Alright, rant over (We won't make you read through our thoughts on ingredients only used for processing just yet), let's wrap this up. I'm sure you're tired of reading all this by now.

Put simply, Richards' Pretty Good is us hoping that when you pick up and use our stuff, you say this stuff isn't just good, it's pretty good because to us that's as good as it gets. To make it even better, we promise to keep it that way and not slowly change things for the worse. You can trust that our products stay the way they were always meant to be.
